Materials: Carved driftwood, Nunivak reindeer hair, turkey feathers, acrylic and watercolor.
This pose started all my three dimensional designs in a dream. The dream was pitch black, with a thunderous beat of the drums all around. When suddenly, I saw a figure coming fast from the distance stomping his mukluk boots in rhythm to the beat. He was dancing through the air tossing his limbs wildly, unleashing his energy in light. His mask would change instantly at every beat, some scary and spine tingling. He stopped in front of me, opened his arms wide and said, "Kiitaaki...Waniwat'tang..." An expression that says, "It begins...here it is (or 'you are given')." Exploding in a flash of light he disappeared.
From that point, all my work has evolved from simple 2-dimensional formats to 3-dimensional motifs, and progress to motivate new designs never before seen in Alaska.
