    SEAWEED

When the long floating seaweed is gone from near tidal shores, that means the Otter has been removed from the site. Just like the forests, the seaweed is always drifting and makes its home in the coastal waters important for fish and animals that rely on them for habitat.  The otter protects it by eating shellfish, sea urchins, starfish and other small animals.  The seaweed provides home for small fish and animals that also feed in this Special Habitat Area.
